    Q. Who can enter?

    A. Schools, groups (e.g. choirs, bands, dance groups) and solo songwriters can all enter the competition in their relevant categories: Schools, Groups, Dance Video, or Solo. The school, group or person entering must live in the Northern Territory, Western Australia or Queensland. Please read the Terms & Conditions to make sure you are eligible to enter the competition.

    Q. Can I enter more than one song?

    A. Yes, you can enter more than one song in a category. But you can only enter a specific song once.

    That is, if your school enters a song called ‘Buffel Grass Boogie’ into the Schools category, this song cannot also be entered into the Groups category or the Solo category.

    But if your school wants to enter a song called ‘Buffel Grass Boogie’ into the Schools category, as well as a different song called ‘Gamba Grass Groovetrain’ into the Schools category, both songs would be eligible for that category.

    Q. Can kids enter?

    A. Yes, under 18 year olds can enter any category with permission from their legal parent or guardian. Read more at How to enter.

    Q. How can I record my song?

    A. Your song does not have to be professionally recorded. You can record the song using a phone or other audio recording device. See the How to enter page for our 2tips for recording clear audio.

    Q. How will my song be judged?

    A. Song entries will be judged on their alignment to the competition’s theme of biosecurity, originality, lyrics and melody. Read more about biosecurity to help you pick a topic or idea to write your song about. Read the full terms and conditions for more information.

    Q. How will my dance video entry be judged?

    A. Dance video entries will be judged on artistry and expression in alignment to the competition’s theme of biosecurity, choreography, and overall impression.     Q. Can I write a song and get someone else to perform it?

    A. Yes – whoever writes the words and music for your song should be listed as the ‘Songwriters’ when you enter. Anyone else involved n singing or playing an instrument on the recording who didn’t write the words or music should be listed as a ‘Performer’.
